Mekong Delta

While we were in Saigon we organised a day trip to the Mekong Delta. The Mekong Delta is the most productive agricultural region in Vietnam producing nearly half of the nation's food crop. The Mekong River is nutrient rich and makes this region extra-ordinarily fertile for rice, bananas, coconuts, tropical fruits and sugar cane. The region is made up of secluded waterways, floating markets, paddy fields and fruit orchards and is very picturesque. The Mekong Delta gave us a real sense of how resourceful and hard-working the Vietnamese people are. Here are a few photos of our trip (ok, more than a few!) and if you would like to read more about our travels to Vietnam, you can click here.

Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City)

Well, we have just returned from our trip to Vietnam and we had an amazing time in this fascinating country.  Our first stop was Ho Chi Minh City (or Saigon to the locals).   Highlights included meeting and observing the resourceful locals, day trips to the Cu Chi tunnels & the Mekong Delta and getting our heads around the traffic laws (or lack of them).  Here are a few photos - to read more about our travels in Saigon you can click here.
