Let's Welcome Cambodia!!

Well, it's been a while since we added a new country to our world map but we think it's been well worth the wait!! We have just added a range of travel wallets, toiletry bags and lunch carry bags, all hand-made in Cambodia and all made out of rice bags (yes, those large bags that rice is stored in).  These products really are extremely cool and very unique - there are just a couple of shown below but to check out the full range, head on over to the Nest.

And if you have any Cambodian flavoured travel experiences that you would like to share please leave a comment below, we would love to hear from you.

Auction Rooms Cafe

Well, we made another North Melbourne discovery (details of our last one here). This time we stopped in for a bite to eat at Auction Rooms Cafe.  My pumpkin salad was delish and David enjoyed his steak sandwich (with wagyu beef, very posh!).  The cafe is housed in an old auction house which makes for a very interesting vibe and lots of cool bit & pieces to admire as you are chowing down on your meal. Check out their website for address and other details.

In Season Farmers Market

David and I headed along to the In Season Farmers Market in Fairfield yesterday.  All the produce on offer at these markets are locally produced (in Victoria) direct from the producer and grower.  It was so much fun filling up our basket with lovely fresh produce and we felt so good about the fact that we were supporting our local community.  Pictured above are a few of the items we bought, the orange cake was so delicious (made from locally grown valencia oranges) that we polished it off the same day we purchased it!  Piggish I know but oh so YUMMY.  The In Season Farmers Markets are held all year round in many different Victorian locations so check out their website for more details.

Angelic Pooch

Now, I know that I am horribly biased about how wonderful Lola is, but is it just me or is there something angelic about her in this photo?

Lollipop Markets, Adelaide, Australia

Lollipop Markets is a brand new and exciting market for Adelaide. The market showcases unique, boutique and handmade items (or of limited supply) for expecting parents, babies, children, Mums and Dads. The markets will be held regularly in Adelaide and stall holders come from all over Australia. Each stall holder is handpicked by the Lollipop Markets team of work at home Mums (WAHMs).

The first ever market was held in November 2010 and you can check out their facebook page for market dates in 2011.  The next market is being held on Sunday February 20th from 10am to 3pm at The Shores Function Complex, Military Road, West Beach, Adelaide, South Australia.

The three ladies who started this fantastic market (Kaye, Bree and Nicole) have been dreaming about running a gorgeous handmade, unique and boutique market for some time. The are all Mums who live in Adelaide and just adore handmade and try to steer away from commercialised, mainstream items (AMEN!).

They identified a need for a handmade market ‘destination’ for South Australia and wanted to create a destination for families to visit, outfit their kids, find toys, food goods, party ideas and gifts. They wanted their markets to be accessible to all businesses, whether established or new.  In terms of what makes Lollipop Markets different, it is the only handmade, unique and boutique market in SA that is run by Adelaide WAHMs for other WAHMs.   The three ladies also run businesses in their own right, so they are obviously extremely busy!

Thank you so much to Kaye, Bree & Nicole for providing us with this information and the photos.  If you live in Adelaide (or are visiting) make sure you check out the next Lollipop Markets!  Pop over to The Lollipop Market's facebook page for plenty of photos of stall holders market and lots more information.

Impromptu Lunch Stop

Driving through North Melbourne the other day, David nicely pointed out that I was getting cranky so I must be hungry, so we decided to take action and stop for a bite to eat in Errol St.  One of the first restaurants we noticed was a little Malaysian restaurant called KL Bunga Raya.  Well, it was a fantastic find because my mee goreng (pictured above) was absolutely delicious, and David had a curry dish that was extremely tasty as well.  We love the fact that you can just stumble across places like this in Melbourne without even trying.  The restaurant is located at 34 Errol St, North Melbourne, and here is the website (where you can download their menus).  And to make our food stop even more perfect we were serenaded by this lovely man (pictured below talking to David) who was busking just down the street - we were dining al fresco in front of the restaurant.  Needless to say, the whole experience well and truly cured my crankiness.
